Pre-doctoral contracts for PhD thesis in propulsive systems at CMT - Clean Mobility & Thermofluids, Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain
Requisites
Master degree or equivalent with a background in the following topics: propulsion systems, sustainable mobility, thermo-and fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, energy, combustion, thermal engines or chemistry engineering (others may also be considered).
In addition to the consideration given to the academic records of a candidate, specific knowledge in computer science and English will be valued.
Pre-doctoral contracts conditions
In normal circumstances and depending on both the regulations of the University and the Spanish law and their possible changes, CMT - Clean Mobility & Thermofluids guarantees that the student will have a pre-doctoral contract for up to 48 months maximum.
Please note that depending on the personal situation of each student, the legal procedures to formalize the pre-doctoral contract in Spain can take several months.
The expenses for any personal paperwork required by UPV for the enrolment are not supported by the pre-doctoral contract.
Non-European students will have to pay a supplement of about 160 € for any registration at UPV and the expenses that may be required for legalizing their documents in Spain.
Pre-doctoral contract salary according to RD 103/2019
- Year 1: 19.007 €/year
- Year 2: 19.007 €/year
- Year 3: 20.365 €/year
- Year 4: 25.456 €/year
This salary can be incremented in 2000 €/year according to the fulfilment of productivity objectives. If the thesis is finished before the end of the third year, an additional bonus of 5000 € will be paid.
Doctoral studies fee: 300 €/year (approx.)
Social security and unemployment insurance: 6500 €/year (approx.)
The students may be proposed as candidates for pre-doctoral contracts offered by official public programs (Spanish or regional governments, etc.) with additional benefits.

Ph.D defense date needs to be between 2018 and 2024 since experienced researchers with postdoc background are needed for the call.
